This piece was tattooed at the Miami coinvention, TattooLaPalooza. When my client Mel chose me to do this memorial portrait tattoo of her late husband, I was truly honored. The story behind it was actually pretty amazing. Before her husband had passed away, he had told her about "a white girl from Texas that does good portraits" and had shown her a picture of me but never had a name to put to the face. A little while later, a family member had suggested to check out my work as she was considering getting the portrait done. After some research, Mel was suprised to see that I was the same person her husband had shown her the picture of! Mel knew there was a convention coming up in Miami and noticed that I would be attending. She sent me an email and told me the story behind it too. I was more than honored to work with her so we set up an appointment straight away. Mel is a real sweetie and sat like an absolute rock! It was definitely fun to be able to add in the tattoos to the piece also (which were done after the reference photo was taken) but Mel said "that's just how he would've wanted it".
