This tattoo started out just to be a filler piece, the more I spoke with Jared(client) he mentioned he didn't like the skin rips to the left of the open area we were going to fill. So we decided to take King Kong all the way over and cover the old piece he had. All the existing tattoos around Kong were done by other tattoo artists, this was the first one I put on Jared's back. This was a fun tattoo, I worked with the old black lines of the skin rips to make them into the leaves and used some of the old smoke flow as parts of the hair. Some of the blue that shined through from the old tattoo gave me the idea to work with more blue by placing the color onto King Kong's face for continuity. Over all I was happy with the outcome of this tattoo.
