Done with Eternal Inks and Industrial Strength Needles

Done in 14 hours over the course of multiple sessions. This was originally started at the end of 2010. Most of the tattoo was done over the course of 2011 and our final session was on 6/10/12

My awesome client, Jennifer, came to me for a portrait of her cat, Ulysses, peering out from a cluster of day lilies, as if he were playing in her gard

en.
Unfortunately, Ulysses passed away at the end of 2011 and Jennifer needed time to mourn before being emotionally confidant to finish the piece. After over a year of working on a portrait of him, I, myself, felt a strong connection to Ulysses and was regretful to hear of his passing.
It was bittersweet to see Jennifer again, after around 10 months of not working on the piece. I was glad to see her again, sad for her loss, and also a bit sad that the piece was going to finally be finished. I have one more appointment with her in about a month for healed photos of the piece (in this photo, parts are healed and parts are fresh).
She has reassured me that we'll be doing more on her in the future and I really look forward to working again with such an amazing person!
